Rubio Arts is best known for our timeless, hand-cut silhouettes of (human) guests visiting Walt Disney World. But did you know that our artists can create silhouettes of animals, too? And we don’t just mean your standard cats and dogs. We mean silhouettes of unique animals. Feathered, shelled, clawed, scaled, and even stuffed—you name it, our artists have probably made a silhouette of it.

From the exotic to the unexpected… From real life to plush… Our talented silhouette artists have a knack for capturing the charm and personality of any creature that comes their way.

Agavé the Bearded Dragon

One of our favorite requests came from Lauryn Squyres, who commissioned a silhouette of her beloved bearded dragon, Agavé. While Agavé didn’t join us in person, Lauryn brought the perfect reference photo to share with silhouette artist Meghan. In the photo, Agavé was even sporting a tiny cowboy hat. Meghan carefully studied the angle and captured Agave’s proud, quirky personality in silhouette form. From the confident tilt of her hat to the unique texture of her beard, the result was a truly unforgettable piece.

Birds of a Feather

From a playful parrot with its iconic curved beak, to the sweet charm of a cockatiel with its signature crest, to the striking elegance of a cockatoo. Each silhouette captures the unique personality of each birds. Our artists cut these birds from reference photos, their feathers rendered with fine detail and a flair for the dramatic.

Our artists tell us birds are a joy to cut. Just as with our people portraits, each animal silhouette is hand-cut with care. What makes these pieces so special is how even the smallest details—like the tilt of a head or the lift of a feather—shine through in classic black and white. The feathers, the curves of the beaks, and the proud postures all lend themselves to elegant, dramatic art.

Sea Creatures & Snakes

From land to sea, our silhouette artists love the challenge of bringing every kind of creature to life. A turtle, for instance, once made the list of unique requests. Its slow, steady posture translated beautifully into silhouette form. Then a lobster, with its bold claws and long antennae, made for a striking design that felt both whimsical and detailed. Eventually, a hermit crab also challenged our artist’s attention to fine detail, as well. Naturally, they rose to the occasion. Even snakes—sleek and winding—have found their way into our artists’ scissors, showcasing how versatile and creative silhouettes can be.

Mammal Muses

Not long ago, a guest asked for a monkey silhouette. We couldn’t say yes fast enough. A playful monkey, full of personality, recently reminded us how much expression can be conveyed in a single cut. A tiny mouse, with its delicate ears and tail, proved that even the smallest creatures can make a big impression in paper cut form. Even a beloved stuffed giraffe has made its way into our artists’ portfolio.
