DEFLATE IT AT THE AIRPORT

If you’re flying from Orlando International Airport (MCO), then you can deflate your balloon at the airport. Cast members at the Magic of Disney store at MCO will professionally deflate your balloon for free. There are two Magic of Disney locations – one near the security checkpoint for gates 1-59, and one near the security checkpoint for gates 70-129.

DEFLATE IT YOURSELF

On the other hand, it is definitely possible to deflate your own balloons. Rubio Arts has 4 different balloon categories: Glasshouse balloons without lights, Glasshouse balloons with lights, character balloons, and balloons specifically from a galaxy far, far away.

Identify which balloon you have, then follow the deflation instructions below.

1. GLASSHOUSE BALLOONS WITHOUT LIGHTS

“GlassHouse” is what we call a balloon that has another balloon inside of it. Our most well known GlassHouse balloons have a Mickey shaped balloon inside. However, a GlassHouse balloon could also have a round balloon inside. These balloons come in multiple different designs, and are available with or without lights. If your GlassHouse balloon has a light, refer to option 2.

Carefully remove the string from the base of the balloon with scissors or tweezers. The string is the only thing holding the two balloons together. Once the string is off, both balloons will deflate.

2. GLASSHOUSE BALLOONS WITH LIGHTS

Carefully remove the zip tie from the base of the balloon with scissors or tweezers. Remove the light by twisting and pulling it from the balloon simultaneously. Then, carefully remove the string with scissors or tweezers. The string and zip tie are the only things holding the two balloons together. Once the zip tie and string are off, both balloons will deflate.

3. CHARACTER BALLOONS

Carefully remove the string from the base of the balloon with scissors or tweezers. Locate the small valve at the base of the balloon. To accomplish this, you will need to untie the bottom portion of the balloon, shown below. Once untied, insert a small straw into the valve, such as a coffee straw. Once the straw is fully inserted, the balloon will deflate.

4. BALLOONS FROM A GALAXY FAR, FAR AWAY

Locate two small valves – one at the base of the balloon and one on the corner of the character’s head. The valve at the top will be held down by an attached adhesive strip, shown below. Simply peel it off to reveal the deflation valve. Next, insert a small straw into each valve, such as a coffee straw. Once each straw is fully inserted, each section of the balloon will deflate.
